Outsiders of the Music Industry
The musicians have repeatedly made
themselves known as opponents of the establishment and outsiders of the music
industry, especially in the context of the influence of representatives of
opinion-forming show business institutions on the issue of freedom of speech
and artistic independence. The group's attitude towards the corporate lobby of the
music industry is illustrated by Bruce Dickinson's statement, in which he
called the decision-makers of the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame": A
bunch of fucking, sanctimonious Americans who didn't know what rock was until
it hit them in the face. To confirm these words, the band expressed no interest in
either the nomination or the fan vote results, which demanded that Iron
Maiden be admitted to the "RNRHOF".
In April 2025, the band's management sent an open letter to the museum in Cleveland, in which he asked that the band never again be nominated to participate in the nonsense and hotbed of corruption and utter shit. It was the first such case in the history, when artists voluntarily gave up a prestigious distinction in favor of defending their own independence. It was no different with the issue of musicians' participation in the Grammy Awards ceremonies. Through boycotting so-called pop culture industry events, the group has repeatedly expressed its disapproval of the celebrity world, exposing its independence and aversion to media-controlled, artificially created popularity.
